Dieselgate, all you need to know – Il Sole 24 Ore

Volkswagen pays to October dieselgate and the effect of the crisis in some emerging markets. Vehicle registrations of German group globally have marked the last month decreased by 5.3% to 490,000 units; in the first ten months of the year the decline was 4.7% to 4.84 million cars. As for the group, global deliveries fell in October by 3.5 percent to 831,300 units, yielding 1.7% to 8.26 million in the first 10 months of 2015.

Juergen Stackmann, board member responsible for sales, said the brand “is experiencing a challenging period. We must not only address the problem of diesel and CO2 emissions, but also to a tense situation on world markets. Developments in Brazil and Russia continue to worry, as we were able to grow in China in October. ‘ The manager added that “in western Europe the temporary blocking sales for vehicles affected by the problems of diesel has impacted on sales.”

Here is the breakdown by area: registrations Volkswagen Passenger Cars fell in October 1.1% in Europe (-1.3% in Western Europe), but slight increases were marked in Italy, Spain and Germany, 0.5% in Central and Eastern Europe. In the 10 months were up 2.7% (+ 5.5% in Western Europe, 14.6% in Eastern Europe). In China, the largest market of Vw, deliveries of cars in the group rose by 1.8% in October, and were down 6.5% in 10 months.

Apparently not dieselgate weighed that much in North America, where registrations of VW brand rose by 3.5% in the month (+ 0.2% in the US), and 2.6% in the 10 months (-2.2% in the US) ; it must be said, however, that the numbers are compared with the German double-digit increases competition. Worst performance in Latin America, where deliveries slipped by 41.8% in the month and by 27.2% in the 10 months with Brazil which marked respectively -49.6% and -34.4%.
