The new cut – underlines the ECB – will be more difficult to counterfeit but easy to recognize thanks to details such as the innovative ‘window with a portrait of Europe, Greek mythology, integrated hologram, figure that becomes transparent when seen against the light .
The same image of Europe is visible in the watermark: it is a face present on a vessel kept at the Louvre in Paris. The find dates back to over 2,000 years ago and was found in southern Italy. The new bill, which until now have been printed 4.3 billion copies, will gradually replace the cut 20 of the first series, which still continue to be legal tender.
