Good news for both the Italian industrial production and for export. In July, after declining the previous month, industrial production returned to growth with a 1.1% increase from the previous month and by 2.7% compared to July 2014. The economic data show all the main productive sectors with an average improvement in the first seven months of 2015 to 0.7%.
Capital goods
The main contributors to the increase trend of ‘general index in July are from capital goods (up 5.3%) and energy (up 10.7%, mainly due to climatic factors). But sectors in greater progress in the year are the manufacture of transport equipment (+ 20.1%) and the main production car: in July the fund recorded an increase of 44.9% over the same month of 2014 . Well even the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air (+ 12.0%) and manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+ 11.7%). The largest decreases are recorded in mining (-5.0%), metallurgy and manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-2.4%) and in manufacture of electrical and non-electrical equipment for domestic use (-0.8%). “We hope that today’s data on industrial production is confirmed in the coming months. It is certainly positive – said the president of Confindustria, Giorgio Squinzi on the sidelines of the industrialists in Turin -. There is a new atmosphere, a bit ‘of positive data are there, but talk of recovery is a bit’ risky ‘.
Export
But in the meantime to grow and much, is also the foreign trade for the first half showed a + 5% and the South is the area of the country with the largest growth (+ 7%), even higher than the average for the North-East (+ 6%). Followed by the North-West (+ 4.7%), the Centre (+ 4.3%) and the Islands, the only area contraction (-2.9%). Among the regions that provide the greatest contribution to the growth trend of national exports in the first half Istat noted: Piedmont (+ 9.6%), Veneto (+ 7.3%), Lombardy (+2.6 %), Lazio (+ 14.4%) and the Emilia-Romagna (+ 4.4%). In contrast, regions that contribute negatively to the growth of national exports in the first half of 2015, Sicily (-8.2%), the Marches (-2.8%) and Molise (-3.3%). The increase in exports of motor vehicles from Piedmont, Basilicata, Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy and of pharmaceuticals, medicinal chemical and botanical from Lazio explains one third the increase of national exports in the first half
