Banca MPS, the Ministry does not vote on the president not to ingest on governance – Reuters Italy


       

SIENA, September 15 (Reuters) – The Ministry of Economy said during the meeting of the bank MPS, which is a shareholder with 4%, which will not participate to vote for the election of the new President, to have no role in governance.


       

He said today the representative of the prosecutor Stefano Di Stefano spoke at the meeting.


       

“The ministry in view of the characteristics of the investment, will not participate in the vote in order to allow the evaluation of the other members of the assessments of the governance of the bank,” said the representative of the public shareholder.


       

The meeting is called to vote on the election to the presidency of Massimo Tononi to replace Alessandro Profumo, who left the bank in early August.


       

The Treasury has 4.02% stake, having received new shares in payment of interest on so-called Monti Bond, now fully reimbursed by the bank.


       

The major shareholders are Fintech, with 4.5%, with Axa 3.17%, with 3.13% Battalion Pactual and People’s Bank of China with just over 2%.


       

The agreement between MPS Foundation, owner of 1.49%, Battalion Pactual and Fintech binds after the last capital increase by 3 billion made in June last year the 0.498% stake.
