Eurostat: three years after graduation working only 53% of Italians – BBC

Italy almost behind in Europe on employment of its graduates three years from the qualification: only just over half (52.9%) is working, the worst in the EU after Greece. They say the Eurostat statistics, for which the average of the same data in the EU-28 in 2014 was 80.5%. For graduates the Italian situation is even worse with only 30.5% that is busy in three years entitled (40.2% for the professional degrees).

The collapse of employed

Overall, people between 20 and 34 outputs from training in occupied Italy in 2014 were just 45% against 76% average in Europe, then back over thirty points compared to the EU 28 countries topped the list are Germany (90%), Britain (83.2%) and France (75.2% ).
Even for the so-called tertiary education (from bachelor to doctorate) the data are not encouraging: Italy is always located at the second lowest after Greece with 52.9% (93.1% in Germany).

The effects of the crisis

For Italy there has been a drop in employment rates after the title with the economic crisis. In particular, between 2008 and 2014 the average young employees entitled to three years in the European Union fell by eight points, while in Italy dropped by more than twenty points from 65.2% to 45%. In the same period in Germany the proportion has grown 86.5% to 90%.

Few graduates

The graduates, who find work more easily than graduates in Italy are still a few: according to the Eurostat statistics relating to 2014 on young people in the range between 30 and 34 years Italians have the black shirt with just 23.9% of graduates compared with 37.9% of the EU average. The figure has improved from 19.2% in 2008 but less than they did on average other countries.
