– Revolution in electricity rates for 30 million users: from 1 January in fact part of the reform process that will lead to overcome the current progressive structure of tariffs network and for general system costs. Since January 1, 2018, at the end of the process, the two cost items, in total more than 40% of the bill, will become equal for all and not increase, as to date, according to consumption.
A revolution that stresses ‘Energy Authority, are major objectives of those supporting the deployment of fuel efficient today penalized by excessive costs, simplify and make more transparent the bill, making prices fairer and cost-reflective network services.
The tariff reform, implementing a EU directive on energy efficiency and aligns us with other European countries, aims to gradually overcome the current progressive structure of network tariffs and the general system charges (the only two voices still remained progressive): a system of cross-subsidies, introduced about forty years ago as a result of the oil shocks of the seventies, in which those who consume more pay for those who consume less. Today, however, the social and economic context is completely changed and this has necessitated the reform, which comes at the end of a complex process of consultations (one in February and one in June).
From 1 January 2018, ie at the end of the reform process, each user will pay for the services you use, and gradually will avoid excessive effects for those with low consumption now pay a bit ‘less. For those who must consume more, as large families and those who live in areas not methane, there will instead be a substantial reduction of additional endured until today. For needy families, also, the Authority has provided a “shock absorber” that will cancel any possible negative effect: the social bonus discount, that the reform in 2016 is automatically boosted by the Authority, who also urged the Government and Parliament to bringing strengthen it from the current 20% to 35% of expenditure.
With the passing of the old system of bands with different prices, then, also bills will be simplified. The reform should also give a boost to the use of efficient electrical equipment, such as heat pumps, electric cars or induction plates, so far held back by excessive usage charges for the progressivity of the tariff: according to the Authority, in fact, these electrical equipment can replace other energy sources renewable as far less gas or LPG, leading to a possible further savings.
For the family type is estimated that the annual average increase (between 1 January 2015 and the first January 2018) of 21 Euros (0.9 Euros per month in 2016, +0.09 euro in 2017 and 0.76 euro in 2018); for families instead be saving about 46 €. Inflation higher for singles wealthy, they will pay 78 euro more (+2 euro per month in 2016, and 207 in EUR +3.7 +0.6 euro in 2018). No change instead to needy families and singles, who will benefit from the electricity bonus.
