High speed, here’s the new Pendolino Alstom for NTV – Il Sole 24 Ore

At the end of October, the theme song of the contract by 460 million euro from NTV, the railway company Italo train, and the Alstom Group, the construction company, for the purchase of eight Pendolino trains, with delivery of the first convoys planned by 2017. This morning the presentation in Rome, the headquarters of NTV, design and technical characteristics of the New Pendolino, which will arouse curiosity among the fans.

As you know, Alstom is already an official supplier of NTV, having realized the Italo-AGV trains that are used daily by the private company on the Italian network High speed.

The Pendolino will complement the existing fleet of 25 AGV carrying 33 trains available to Italo, which can then expand its network. The goal is to develop the offer of high speed chiefly recorded on the North-East and North-West, but the train can be used on other destinations in growing demand. Admission to these areas will represent a new opportunity for millions of travelers who constantly move along these lines and will fit into the development process, undertaken by Italo, who in 2015 carried more than 9 million passengers, an increase of 40% over the previous year.

The new design of the Pendolino train, red fire, is taken care of by the center Design & amp; Styling of Alstom, which has already taken care of the style (eternal) of the AGV-Italo. The interior will be chosen and presented in the coming months.

The Pendolino, explain the two companies, it is designed to be a green train, thanks to its high recyclability, able to ensure reduced emissions of CO2.

From the point of view of the technical characteristics, the train that Alstom will provide will be the evolution of the Pendolino we know today: a high-speed train with distributed traction that can reach 250 km / h. The configuration of the train will be seven speakers and will accommodate 480 passengers (187 meters in length).

The major innovation compared to previous generations of Pendolino, it is compatible with the very latest technical specifications for interoperability. Conditions and standards established by the European Union, to help ensure high levels of safety and efficiency.

The nuvo Pendolino Alstom for NTV will be entirely produced in Italy: the headquarters of Savigliano (Cuneo) will the design and production of the train; Sesto San Giovanni (Milan) will design and produce the traction systems; Bologna will signaling. Finally, the maintenance of the new train will be made in the factory in Nola (Naples), already responsible for the maintenance of Italo.
