Between April and June as much as 54% of start-ups in Italy was the result of ‘ initiative of young people under 35 years: to them we owe the opening of almost 32 thousand companies (on average 300 per day, including Saturdays and Sundays), equal to one third of all openings in the quarter. Net of closures reported in the same period (about 11 thousand), the army of youth enterprises in the second quarter of ‘ year has thus enriched to more than 20 thousand units, almost reaching the value of 600 thousand companies. In absolute terms the contribution that young people have made to the growth of the entrepreneurial base, between April and June was 54% (in so much is the share of firms “under 35″ compared to the overall quarterly balance). This contribution is even more significant when you look at its intensity: the quarterly growth rate of youth entrepreneurship has scored a + 3.6% compared with 0.6% of total business.

And number of young people in the South decided to roll up their sleeves: new youth initiatives southern fact represent 40.6% of total new business in that area of the country, with peaks above or close to this share in Calabria, Campania and Sicily. In absolute terms, the sectors where young people have chosen to focus are trade (over 6,500 companies in more in the quarter), accommodation and catering services (+2,800) and construction (+2,300).
