After the rise of the beginning of the year, in February, the services sector in Italy is shown in stagnation. The services PMI index fell in February to 50 points from 51.2 points in the previous survey and below market expectations which were for a slight increase to 51.4. “In February, the service sector did not seem to enjoy the same stimuli had in manufacturing – says Phil Smith, economist at Markit – unlike the activity was stable since the companies have faced a further, albeit modest, contraction the entry of new orders. This means that the quarterly data collected so far herald a marginal growth of the private sector. “However – continues Smith – two are the positive aspects arising from the investigation of the service sector: a marginal increase of ‘ employment (the first since 2011) and the further increase in confidence until it touches the record in nearly a year. The latter also provides good prospects for future recruitments. “
