A third worker gets sick on Monday – La Stampa

According to a malicious research studies of the Office of the CGIA (the association of artisans) in Italy one third of workers gets sick on Monday. In fact, the statistics are never malicious, they are what they are and reveal the numbers are, but there is scope for debate on the interpretations.

It turns out that in 2012 (the last year for which data are available) were approximately 6 million employees Italians who were absent for at least one day of illness. On average, each employee Italian got sick 2.23 times and stayed at home for 17.71 days: the total sick days lost throughout the year have been almost 106 million.

So far nothing substantial. The curious fact is that more than 30 percent of medical certificates that attest to the inability to return to his place of work was presented on Monday. Out of 13 million 365 thousand disease events recorded two years ago, more than 4 million (30.7 percent of the total) were reported earlier in the week, and have led to absences on Monday (possibly extended to Tuesday Wednesday, etc.) engaging on Saturdays and Sundays.

Giuseppe Bortolussi, secretary of the CGIA, not pointing the finger at workers ,: “The data should be read very carefully. It would be unfair and wrong to exploit some results. Less extreme cases, our businesses can count on the reliability of employees and workers who are considered among the best workers in the world. ”
