Bankitalia: converted to EUR one billion old lire – The Messenger


 To date have been around 74, for a total amount of just over a billion pounds and a value of 564 thousand euro, the conversion operations lire blocked in 2011 by the then Government Monti. As it is known, in May the Court of Auditors had declared illegal the early prescription of coins old coinage established by Decree-Law 201/2011, so this past January 22 began the conversion of lire operations at branches of the Bank of Italy. It should however be specified that will be converted only the coins and banknotes of those who presented the request to change between 6 December 2011 and 28 February 2012.
