Unilever Acquires Grom, the Italian manufacturer of ice cream established in 2003 to turin by shareholders Federico Grom and Guido Martinetti. The acquisition of Grom, Unilever said in a statement, further strengthens the portfolio of the group in the category of ice-cream. Today Grom is a company that produces premium brand ice cream and Italian counts 67 stores in Italy and around the world. The business Grom “will remain independent and will continue to be run by Federico and Guido from Turin.”
Unilever, the giant from 48.4 billion euro (since 2014), is on the market with the brands Algida and Magnum (in Italy in recent days is an ongoing dispute of 151 redundancies in the plant Pasacarola in Campania). The latest figures for the turnover of home ice cream Turin recorded a turnover of approximately 30 million Euros and about 650 employees.
A statement issued by Grom noted that “this collaboration is to Grom an extraordinary opportunity to continue the virtuous cycle that has characterized its history: starting from agriculture and, choosing the best raw materials, enhance the Italian ice cream quality of bringing in the most ‘important markets of the world. ”
The terms of the agreement are not disclosed by the parties.
